NFL 2020 (Final)

Our NFL ranking system used a team’s strength of schedule as a baseline throughout the year. Our models brought on a strong level of consistency week-in and week-out by looking at key factors such as a team’s average scoring margin relative to teams that performed similarly around them. There was a strict balance between offense and defense: while a top-flight offensive team may not have been great defensively, their overall quality of play based on results would have elevated their defense as far as our rating outcomes each week (and vice-versa). Our final NFL rankings through 16 games for each team allow us to define how a team fared throughout the year without placing more emphasis on any given part of the season.
